William Thomas Dulin (1785 - ?)and William Ephriam Dulin (1807 - 1863)
Recent research has uncovered two documents relating to William Thomas and his eldest son William Ephraim. The first is an entry in a book for the Guild of watchmakers, the entry is number 34 and is worded as follows: Be it remembered, That I William Thomas Dulin, No 10 Cornhill, Watchmaker, was this second day of September in the year of 1810 admitted a free Clock maker, by Redemption, was sworn and promised conformity. pursuant to act of common council. Witness, by the Clerk
The second document is related to the apprenticeship of William Ephraim Dulin to his father as a Goldsmith and is numbered 172, and is worded as follows: Be it remembered, That William Ephraim Dulin son of William Thomas Dulin of No. 10 Cornhill, Goldsmith and Watchmaker. Was bound apprentice for seven years, from the day of the Date hereof, to the said William Thomas Dulin his father Citizen and Clockmaker, of London, to learn his art of a Goldsmith upon the consideration of the sum of Five Shillings.as appears by Indentures dated this Third day of September in the year 1821. William Ephraim Dulin worked with his father for many years and eventualy had his own premises at 67 St. James Place, Westminster. A photograph taken in 2002 is shown below.
